Happy Chinese New Year!
As the Year of the Tiger approaches, I would like to wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year.
The Lunar New Year is a wonderful time to embrace our community’s cultural diversity and to share in the traditional celebrations of Chinese culture.
This year, there are a number of Chinese New Year events planned throughout the city including the City of Sydney’s Twilight Parade. You can find out more about upcoming Chinese New Year festival activities here (http://www.cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au/cny/Default.aspx)
May the new year bring you much happiness and prosperity.

One Response to “Happy Chinese New Year!”
Thank you Malcolm. We too plan to celebrate with jiaozi (dumplings) and a big banquet for friends. One minor quibble – while the Chinese no doubt loom large in the world, the lunar new year is in fact celebrated by a range of other cultures, such as Tibetans, Mongolians (most years they mark the same date as the Chinese, for their Tsagaan Tsar, or white moon) and the Vietnamese (with their ‘Tet’.) Either way, though, the event is a positive reminder of the diversity of our nation. Gan bei!
