In my August newsletter I mentioned that together with Jeromey Temple I was preparing a paper on the affordability of tax reform. It was released yesterday and will be discussed at the Wentworth Liberals Tax Forum on 1 September at Easts Leagues Club, Bondi Junction at 7 pm; join us if you can.

The Australian newspaper has covered the tax reform issue extensively in today's edition. See their front page lead here.

It is entitled "Taxation Reform in Australia: Some alternatives and indicative costings." and can be downloaded from my website in the downloads section here. It is the first paper in the list dated 26 August.

The paper models 279 different combinations of rate and threshold changes to the personal income tax system. The key finding from the study is that fundamental reform to the personal income tax system is financially feasible. We can afford to lower our tax rates (and not just for the top taxpayers), simplify our tax system and reduce the heavy burden of compliance and red tape on Australians.

There are also three new speeches on the website about Gaza, North Bondi Surf Club and Victory in the Pacific, all given in Parliament last week.

Yours sincerely,
